Replacement of wheels

When replacing wheels it is inexpedient to change the direction of rotation of tires. For some tires the direction of rotation is specified by an arrow on lateral face and it should be observed surely.

It is recommended to replace each 10 000 km forward wheels back. Thanks to it, all 4 wheels will have identical service life and identical wear.

To tighten wheel bolts only a dynamometer key. At the same time their identical inhaling is provided.

To replace tires not separately, and, at least, on one axis. At the same time with a bigger depth of a profile to mount tires behind.


During the replacing and dismantle of tubeless tires it is for safety reasons obligatory to replace the rubber gate.

Delete a possible rust on a surface of a prileganiye of a rim with a wire brush. For protection of a wheel against corrosion at each dismantle slightly grease with bearing lubricant the place of landing of a disk wheel on a nave in front and behind.

1. Wring out a wheel cap the screw-driver or remove hands, depending on a design.
2. Before removal mark chalk or a felt-tip pen the provision of a wheel concerning a nave that at repeated installation to establish a wheel in its situation.

Bolts 1 (length of L = 40 mm, To = 13, 5 mm) are intended only for disk wheels from light metal, bolts 2 (length of L = to 21 mm, To = 10, 5 mm) are used only for steel disk wheels. If are in addition mounted ободья from light metal, and as a spare wheel the steel disk wheel is delivered, it is recommended to have in tool kit the corresponding bolts to a spare wheel.

5. Before installation of a disk wheel from light metal twist the assembly plug which is applied to a spare wheel in the top carving opening.
6. Fix wheel bolts cross-wise in several calling.


At unilateral or insufficiently strong tightening of bolts the wheel or a nave can be drawn.

7. Inhaling moment: 110 N. of m for ободьев from steel and light metals.
8. Again put on a wheel cap. At installation so put on a cover that the gate entered the cut provided for it stronger. Steel ободья have to be used only with the mounted wheel caps to avoid damage of gates of tires.
9. At new wheels tighten wheel bolts approximately through 100 - 500 km of a way with m 110 N.' moment.

Antisliding chains

Use of chains of antisliding is allowed only on a back axis. Before installation of chains of antisliding to take off wheel caps. To use only the antisliding chains resolved by Mercedes.

For cars with the ASR traction control system the switch of chains of antisliding is used. At adjustment of height of the car to install the car on the highest clearance. To speed with antisliding chains no more than 50 km/h. On the highway, snow-covered and free from ice, to remove antisliding chains.

Care of tires

It is known that tires have so-called "memory", and their unqualified use, for example, bystry or frequent moving through stone borders or edges of rails, is quite often shown much later as their damage.

Cleaning of tires

Whenever possible do not clear the tire a vapor jet from the steam-ejecting pump. Running in of tires

New tires have especially slippery surface. Therefore new tires - it concerns also new spare wheel - it is necessary to roll. At such running in the surface of tires becomes rough as a result of initial wear. The first 300 km it is necessary to go with new tires especially carefully, especially to wet weather.

Wheels – balancing

At each rewiring of tires of a wheel it is necessary to balance again to compensate various distribution of weight and unevenness of material.

In the course of driving the imbalance is shown by vibration and rumble. The steering wheel begins then to shiver small.

As a rule, vibration of a steering wheel is shown only in the certain range of speeds and disappears when switching to lower or high transfers.

Such phenomenon of a disbalansirovka can lead to damage of axial joints, the mechanism of steering and shock-absorbers over time. Surely balance wheels each 20 000 km and after each repair of tires as in the course of wear and repair of tires distribution of weight and material changes.

Wrong wear of tires

On forward wheels a little bigger wear of shoulders of tires in comparison with the middle of a protector – the normal phenomenon. First of all pay attention to the appropriate pressure of air in tires, at the same time at least each four weeks control their state.

To control air pressure only on cold tires. Pressure of tires increases with their heating at bystry driving. However it is not necessary to lower air from heated tires.

With too high pressure of air in tires the middle of a protector since at the same time as a result of high internal pressure the tire is more curved on the middle of a protector wears out more.

With too low pressure of air in tires the protector wears out on tire shoulders more, and the middle of a protector becomes convex inside. As a result bigger wear of shoulders of tires takes place.

The wrong installation of wheels and their imbalance give a typical picture of wear of tires.
