GENERAL INFORMATION

As scopes of the next SAE classes coincide, short-term fluctuations of temperature should not be considered. It is admissible to mix oils of various classes of viscosity if having added once is made and external temperature does not correspond to more class of viscosity of the oil which is in the engine.

For petrol engines of the S-class engine oils of the SF and SG API specification, and are suitable for the diesel engine – API-CD.

The European producers of oil in addition set still the CCMC specification which considers the European manufacturing techniques of engines and gains the increasing value. Oils for petrol engines in SSMS are designated from the class G1 to G5.

For petrol engines Mercedes orders as the minimum CCMC-G4 standard for all-weather oils; CCMC-G5 belongs to very fluid oils with low viscosity.

These standards approximately correspond to the SG API specification which is in addition meeting the European requirements.

Engine oils of API classification of CE and CF-4, and for petrol – API-SF and SG are suitable for diesel engines of a class C.

Oils for petrol engines in SSMS are designated from the class G1 to G5. Diesel oils for cars contain in the SSMS specification – D4, D5 and to the high-quality CCMC-PD2, CCMC-D4 specification approximately there corresponds API-CE; CCMC-D5 is similar to API-CF-4.

For normal operation of the car use of the CCMC-D4 engine oil is enough. High-quality oils of the classes D5 and PD4 can also be used at any time. Use of the SSMS standard oil of the API CE specification and CF-4 is essentially necessary.

In each separate case be guided by the principle of use of the engine oil recommended by Mercedes-Benz (it is designated on a canister with oil).
