9.2.4. Check of level of oil in the automatic transmission
GENERAL INFORMATION

For normal functioning of an automatic box it is extremely important to observe the ordered oil level. Therefore an inspection should be carried out with big care.

The core of the index of level for check is in a motor compartment. Here also gearbox oil of the ATF brand is filled in.

Level of oil can be checked at cold (about 30 °C) and heated to the working temperature (about 80 °C) of the transmission.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Stop the car on a plain surface.
2. Leave to work the engine approximately for 1–2 minutes in the idling mode. Install the lever of the selective choice in situation "P", tighten the lever of the manual parking brake system.
3. Start the engine and during check leave it to work in the idling mode.
Prevention

At too low level of oil it is clearly heard as air is sucked in by the oil pump. Because of it oil foams that can lead when checking level of oil to obtaining the wrong result. In this case stop the engine and approximately in two minutes add a little oil, then at the working engine double-check oil level.
4. Open the lever of the castle device (6) and take the index of level of oil.
5. Wipe the index of level of oil a bezvorsisty rag, and it is the best of all skin, and insert into an open opening of the castle device against the stop.
6. Extend the index of level of oil and consider oil level. Level of liquid has to be between the marks "min" and "max" of the corresponding temperature range.
7. For the cold transmission (temperature of gearbox oil about 30 °C) the temperature range "30", for the transmission heated to working temperature is valid (temperature of gearbox oil about 80 °C) temperature range "80" on the index of level is valid.
Prevention

Too small or too large amount of oil negatively influence functioning of the automatic transmission.
8. At the same time check the old oil which remained on the index of level for appearance and a smell. Slightly burned frictional slips cause a smell of burning. The polluted oil can be the cause of emergence of malfunctions in a control system of the transmission.
9. If it is necessary to add ATF (the abbreviation of ATF (English) is deciphered: "liquid for automatic transmissions"). Apply for this purpose a pure funnel (050) and a sieve (a filter grid with small cells). All allowed ATF oils can be mixed among themselves. Do not apply additional lubricant.
Prevention

Fill in very few oil. Excess of oil can cause malfunctions in operation of automatic equipment. In each case it is necessary to merge excess amount of oil.

It is possible to apply only the ATF oils ordered by the plant.
10. Without filling of ATF oil in the converter of torque and in the automatic transmission it is impossible to start the engine and it is impossible to tow the car. Squeeze out a foot brake and slowly switch the lever of the selective choice to all provisions. After that double-check oil level.
11. Insert against the stop the index of level of oil and block it the lever of the castle device.
